How to Change WhatsApp Group Name (Android)

  1. ​Open WhatsApp.
  2. In the Chats tab, long-press the group chat.
  3. ​Hit three vertical dots at the top.
  4. ​Tap on Group info which you can find between Add chat shortcut and Mark as unread.
  5. ​Hit on the Pencil icon beside the group name.

  1. ​In the Enter new subject screen, provide the group name as per your wish. Keep in mind that a maximum of 25 characters is allowed as the group name.
  2. ​Tap the Ok button at the bottom.

How to Add or Change WhatsApp Group Icon (Android)

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. In the Chats tab, long-press the group chat.
  3. Hit three vertical dots at the top.
  4. Tap on Group info which you can find between Add chat shortcut and Mark as unread.
  5. Tap the area above the group name. If you’re changing the group icon, tap the current one, and then hit the Pencil icon at the top.
  6. In the pop-up, you can see three or four options (depending on you add or change) – Remove icon, Camera, Search Web, and Gallery.

  1. Pick the one you prefer from the last three options. Here, I’m choosing the last one.
  2. Pick the photo you prefer.
  3. Now, hit the Rotate option if you want to rotate the image. Use the handles and move the transparent grid on the screen to cover the portion of the image you want to display.
  4. Tap the Done option at the bottom.

To Remove Group Icon

Hit the current group icon as mentioned above, tap the Pencil icon at the top, choose the Remove icon option, and tap Remove in the pop-up.

How to Add or Change WhatsApp Group Description (Android)

  1. ​Open WhatsApp.
  2. In the Chats tab, long-press the group chat.
  3. Hit three vertical dots at the top.

By default, any group participant can change group subject, description, and icon.

If you prefer to let admins only to change those, then follow the below steps (Remember that you can do this only if you’re an admin of the group):

  1. ​Open WhatsApp.
  2. In the Chats tab, long-press the group chat.
  3. ​Hit three vertical dots at the top.
  4. Tap on Group info which you can find between Add chat shortcut and Mark as unread.
  5. Hit Group settings option.
  6. Tap the Edit group info option.

How to Allow Admins Only to Send Messages to WhatsApp Group (Android)

By default, any participant can send messages to the group.

But, if you want to allow admins only to send messages to the group, follow the below steps (Remember that you can do this only if you’re an admin of the group):

  1. ​Open WhatsApp.
  2. ​In the Chats tab, long-press the group chat.
  3. Tap three vertical dots at the top.
  4. ​Tap on Group info which you can find between Add chat shortcut and Mark as unread.
  5. ​Hit the Group settings option.
  6. ​Tap on Send messages option.

  3. Hit More option, which you can find beside Archive.
  4. Tap Group Info option, which you can find between Mute and Export Chat.
  5. Hit the group name.
