How to Add Website Shortcut to Android Home Screen

Here, I’m using Chrome for Android, Firefox for Android, and Edge for Android.

Hit three vertical dots at the top.

Between “Find in page,” and “Desktop site,” you see the “Add to Home screen” option. Hit it.

In the pop-up, edit the shortcut name if you wish. Tap “Add.”

If you want to place the shortcut to the home screen manually, use the icon you see to do so. Else, tap the “Add automatically” option. I chose the latter.

That’s it. Go to the home screen, and you see the website shortcut.

How to Pin a Website Shortcut to Windows 10 Taskbar or Start Menu

Here, I’m using Edge, Chrome (Pinning website shortcut to the Start menu is only in this section), and Firefox browsers.

Microsoft Edge

The below steps are for pinning a website shortcut to the taskbar. Discussed the alternate method in the “Mozilla Firefox” section of this post.

Let’s see the steps.

Open the website you want in Edge.

Hit the three horizontal dots.

Hover your mouse over “More tools.”

Hit “Pin to taskbar.”

In the pop-up, change the name of the shortcut if you wish.

Go to the website you wish in the Chrome.

Hit the three horizontal dots at the top.

Right-click on it. Hit “Pin to Start” if you want to pin the shortcut to Start menu.

Click on “Pin to taskbar” if you want to pin the shortcut to taskbar

Mozilla Firefox

If you want to pin a website shortcut to the taskbar, follow the below steps. Not only Firefox, this one applies for Edge and Chrome too.

Here’s an important thing to note:

For each browser, you can pin only one shortcut using this method. Let’s see this with an instance.

You’ve already pinned a shortcut to the taskbar which opens Google. And now you’ve created a shortcut which opens Facebook. You can’t pin the latter to the taskbar until you unpin the former.

Let’s see the steps.

Create a shortcut for the Edge, Chrome, or Firefox on the desktop.

Right-click on the shortcut. Hit “Properties.”

In the “Target” field, go to the end. Hit the “Space bar” key.

Add: -url “https://www.technologyhint.com/”

Replace the https://www.technologyhint.com/ with the website URL you prefer.

Hit “OK” button.

Now, right-click the shortcut.

Hit “Pin to taskbar,” if you want to pin shortcut to taskbar.

Note: Remove the shortcut on desktop if you wish.

How to Unpin Website Shortcut from Taskbar or Start Menu

To unpin from Start menu, right-click on the tile. Choose “Unpin from Start.”

To unpin from the taskbar, right-click on the shortcut. Choose “Unpin from taskbar.”

If you’ve followed the “Microsoft Edge” section, then you need to follow the below steps too:

Open Edge.

Type edge://apps on the address bar. Press the “Enter” key.

You can see the one you’ve created.

Hit “X” icon beside it.

Hit “Remove.”

If you’ve followed the “Google Chrome” section, then you need to follow the below steps too:

Open Chrome browser.

Type chrome://apps on the address bar. Press the “Enter” key.

You can see the one you’ve created.

Right-click on it. Choose the “Remove from Chrome” option.

Click “Remove” on the confirmation pop-up.
