Here’s how to turn off auto play of videos and GIFs on Twitter:
Sign into Twitter.
Hit “More” in the left sidebar > Settings and privacy > Data usage.
Hit “Autoplay.” Choose “Never.”
Android or iPhone
Launch the Twitter app.
Hit three vertical lines at the top left.
Tap Settings and privacy > Data usage. Tap “Video autoplay.” Choose “Never.”
How to Turn Off Media Previews on Twitter
By default, media previews are enabled in Twitter app (Android and iPhone).
Here’s how you can disable if it you’re not a fan:
Open Twitter app (Android or iPhone).
Hit three vertical lines at the top left > Settings and privacy > Display and sound.
Disable “Media previews.”
Note: Want to enable media previews? Then follow the above steps but enable instead of disabling.

How to Turn Off Facebook Auto Play
Sign into Facebook. Hit “Inverted triangle” icon at the top right > Settings & privacy > Settings.
Hit on “Videos” from the left sidebar.
Beside “Auto-play Videos,” you can see a drop-down list. Open it and then select “Off.”
Open the Facebook app.
Tap three vertical lines > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media and Contacts.
Hit “Autoplay.” Choose “Never Autoplay Videos.”
Launch Facebook for iPhone.
Hit three vertical lines > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Video and photos.
Tap “Autoplay.” Select “Never Autoplay Videos.”
