How to Turn On and Off WiFi on Android

In this post, we’ll see how to turn on and off WiFi on Android manually and automatically.

In this instance, I’m using Android Pie. Let’s get started.

Manual Ways

Method #1

Slide down from the top, and you can see the “WiFi” icon beneath “Date.” Tap it.

If your device got a saved WiFi network, then your device will automatically get connected to it. Otherwise, only the WiFi is turned on.

To see the available networks – long-press the “WiFi” icon.

To connect to a WiFi network – Tap it, enter its password and then hit “Connect.”

To turn off WiFi – hit the “WiFi” icon.

Method #2

Steps

  1. Open Settings > Network & Internet.

  2. Tap the toggle beside “Wi-Fi” to switch on WiFi.

If your device got a saved network, then your device will automatically get connected to it. Otherwise, only the WiFi will be turned on.

To see available networks – Tap “Wi-Fi” after you turned on WiFi.

To connect – Tap the network, enter its password, and then hit “Connect.”

To switch off WiFi, tap the toggle beside “Wi-Fi.”

Automatic Way

Here, we’ll see how to turn on and off WiFi at a specific time.

  1. Open the AutomateIt app.
  2. Hit My Rules > + icon.
  3. Choose the “Time Trigger.” Set the day and time. Tap “Next.”
  4. Choose “Set Wifi State Action.” Select “Wi-Fi Enabled.” Hit “Next.”
  5. Give the rule name as per your desire. Tap the “Save” icon at the top.
  6. Hit the “+” icon.
  7. Choose the “Time Trigger.” Set the day and time. Tap “Next.”
  8. Choose “Set Wifi State Action.” Select “Wi-Fi Disabled.” Hit “Next.”
  9. Provide rule name as per your liking. Tap the “Save” icon at the top.

That’s it. From now on, the first rule turns on WiFi at the time and date you’ve chosen, and the second one turns off WiFi at the time and date you’ve selected.
