How to Change Text Color and Page Color in Google Docs (and More)

Change Text Color in Google Docs

    ​Sign into Google Docs.

    ​Open the document and then select the text for which you want to change color.

    ​Hit the "Text color" icon at the top, which you can find between "Underline" and "Highlight color."

    ​Now, click on the color you wish.

That's it. You can see the change now.

If you want to go back to default, then follow the above steps (1-3) and choose the "black" color.

Change Text Color in Google Docs for Android

    ​Open Google Docs app.

    ​Open the document and then tap on the "Pencil" icon at the bottom.

    ​Select the text for which you want to change color.

    ​At the bottom, you can see the "Text color" icon which is between "Underline" and "Alignment." Tap on it.

    ​Now, choose the color you prefer.

That's all. All done.

If you want to get back to the default, then follow the above steps (1-4) and choose "Black" color.

Change Page Color in Google Docs

    ​Go to Google Docs. Sign in if not already.

    ​Open the document you want.
  • angle-right
    ​Click "File" at the top and then click the "Page setup" option.

    ​Now, you can see "Page setup" popup where you can see a drop-down beneath "Page color." Open it and then select the color you wish.

    ​If you wish to set the color as the default​, click on "Set as default" button. Otherwise, leave the button intact.

    ​Click the "OK" button in the popup.

That's all. Now, you can see that the color you've chosen is applied to the entire document.

If you want to revert, then follow the above steps and make sure to choose the "white" color in Step 4.

Remember that if the color you've selected is the default page color, then you can't see "Set as default" button. Instead of that, you can see "Saved as default" text.

Change Page Color in Google Docs for Android

    ​Open Google Docs app and then open the document you wish. Click on "Pencil" icon at the bottom.

    ​Tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) at the top and then tap on "Page setup."

    ​Now, hit "Page color." Pick the color you wish.

If you want to revert, then follow the above steps and make sure to select "White" color in the last step.

Highlight Text in Google Docs

    ​Sign into Google Docs.

    ​Open the document and then select the text you want to highlight.

    ​Now, click on "Highlight color" icon which you can find between "Text color" and "Insert link."

    ​Click on the color you want.

If you want to remove the text highlighting, then select the highlighted text and then hit the "Highlight color" icon at the top. Now, select "None."

    ​Open the document and then hit the "Pencil" icon at the bottom.

    ​Select the text you want to highlight and then hit the "Format" icon which you find on the left side of the "+" icon.

    ​Now, under "Text," you can see "Highlight color." Tap on it.

To remove text highlighting, follow the below steps:

Select the highlighted text. Hit the "Format" icon and then tap the "Highlight color." Choose "None."
