How to Stop Others from Following You on Facebook

By default, your Facebook friends are following you, and anyone can follow you on Facebook.

If you don’t like others following you, then you can stop it and here’s how:

Table of Contents

PC

  1. Sign in to Facebook if you’re not already. Go to Public posts.
  2. Now, you can see “Who Can Follow Me” along with its drop-down list.
  3. Open it and then select “Friends.”
Selected Friends

That’s all. From now on, only your friends can follow you and others can’t.

Note that this change will not apply to people who follow you on buy and sell groups and Marketplace.

Also, keep in mind that it removes the “Followers” tab in “Friends” and “Followed by” from the timeline. Moreover, all your existing followers (who aren’t your friends) can’t follow you because they aren’t your followers anymore.

In case, if you want to go back to the default, then follow the above steps and then instead of selecting “Friends,” choose “Public” from the drop-down list. It’ll bring back the “Followers” tab, “Followed by” and all your existing followers. Also, it’ll allow anyone to follow you.
