By default, Edge opens the PDF file in Windows 11.
Follow these steps if you don’t want PDFs to open on Edge:
Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
Hit Apps on the left sidebar.
Click on Default apps on the right.
The “Choose defaults by file type” is on the right. Click on it.
Then, find .pdf and click on Microsoft Edge. If you see a popup, hit Switch anyway in it.
Select the PDF reader of your choice. Hit the OK button.
Alternatively, you can follow these steps to get to the “Default apps” screen:
Here is an alternate method to stop Edge as the default PDF viewer:
Right-click the PDF.
Hover your mouse over “Open with” in the context menu.
Click on the “Choose another app” option.
In the popup, choose the app you prefer.
Check Always use this app to open .pdf files.
Hit the OK button.
