How to Split and Merge PDF Files

In this post, we'll see how to split a PDF. Also, we'll look at the steps to merge PDFs. Let's get started.

Split a PDF using Web Browser

You can use a web browser to split PDF. Here is how you can use ChromeFirefox or Edge to do this task:

Chrome

  • Open PDF you want to split in Chrome web browser.
  • Click on "Print" icon at the top (Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + P). Now, you can see the "Print" window.
  • Make sure you see "Save as PDF" beside "Destination." If not, click on the "Change" button. You can see a popup now. Select "Save as PDF" which you can find it under "Print Destinations" section.
  • Beside "Pages" option, you can see two options and the option "All" is selected, by default. Select the text field option which is under beneath "All."
  • Enter the page number(s) and ranges(s) you want. In this instance, I want pages 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10.
  • Hit the "Save" button and save the PDF.

Firefox

  • Open the PDF you prefer to split in Firefox.
  • Hit the "Print" icon at the top or press Ctrl + P.

  • In the "Print range" section, select "Pages." Now, enter the page range you want (if you want a single page alone, input the page number in both the fields). The one disadvantage here is that you can input only one page number or range.
