How to set up and activate Siri on iPhone

By default, when you set up your new Apple iPhone X, you will be prompted to set up Siri.

If you skipped that, follow the steps below to set up Siri on the iPhone X.


  1. Open Settings.
  2. Hit Siri & Search.
  3. Tap the toggle switch beside Listen for “Hey Siri”.
  4. Tap Enable Siri.
  5. Tap the Continue button.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions and once you have done that, you will be able to see that screen.
  7. Press the Done button.

Remember that Siri is allowed by default even when the device is locked. If you don’t like it, find and tap the toggle switch next to Allow Siri When Locked.

If you want to use the side button to enable Siri, tap the toggle button next to the Press Side Button for Siri.

If you want to disable Siri on the iPhone X, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Siri & Search.
  3. Press the toggle switch beside the Listen for “Hey Siri”. If you have already activated the Press Side Button for Siri, tap the toggle switch next to it.
  4. Tap the option Turn Off Siri.

You can activate Siri by saying Hey Siri or pressing the side button for a second.

To end Siri, do the following: Press the side button or swipe up from the bottom.

How to disable explicit language for Siri on iPhone

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  3. Enable Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  4. Now, tap Content Restrictions > Explicit Language.
  5. Choose Don’t Allow.
