How to Remove Scan with Microsoft Defender Option

If you right-click on a file, folder or drive, you can see the Scan with Microsoft Defender option in the context menu.

You can remove it from the context menu if you do not want it.

In this post, you will see the steps to do this task. Here, I’m using Windows 10 build 21343. Let’s get started.

Remove Scan with Microsoft Defender Option

Open the Registry Editor. To do that, click on the Start button and then type registry. In the search results, you can see the Registry Editor. Hit it. Hit Yes in the UAC pop-up.

Go to the following keys: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > CLSID > {09A47860-11B0-4DA5-AFA5-26D86198A780}.

Take a backup of the latter key before proceeding.

Right-click on the latter key.

Hit the Delete option.

Hit the Yes option in the confirmation pop-up.

That’s it. From now on, there is no longer the Scan with Microsoft Defender option.

To add the Scan with Microsoft Defender option to the context menu, you must restore the backup of the key which I have mentioned in the above steps.
