How to Remove Facebook Message for Yourself and Everyone

You can remove your Facebook message from your device or yours and your recipient(s) device.

Keep in mind that you can do the former at any time you want and the latter up to 10 minutes from the time the message is sent.

With that said, let’s see how to do it on PC, Android, and iPhone.

PC

Steps

  1. Go to the Messages.

  2. Find the message you want to delete. Hover your mouse over it. 

  3. Click on three horizontal dots and then hit “Remove.”

  4. In the popup, you can see two options:

    Remove for everyone – Removes the message from yours and your recipient(s) device.

    Remove for you – Removes the message from your device.

    Note: You can’t see this popup if you’re trying to delete a message that passed the 10 minutes from the time it is sent. And, you need to follow step 6.

  5. Choose the one you prefer. In this instance, I chose “Remove for everyone.”

  6. Hit “Remove.”

Here’s an important thing to note:

  • When you use the Remove for everyone, your recipient(s) will see a message in the place of the deleted message notifying them that you’ve removed the message.

Android

  1. Open Facebook Messenger.
  2. Find the message and then long-press it.
  3. Now, hit “Remove” at the bottom.
  4. Tap “Remove for Everyone” or “Remove for You” as per your preference.
  5. In the popup, hit “Remove.”

iPhone

  1. Open Facebook Messenger.
  2. Find the message and then long-press it.
  3. Now, hit “Remove” at the bottom.
