How to Remove Create a New Video Option

If you right click on the image file, you can see the Create a new video option in the context menu.

You can remove it if you do not want it.

In this post, you will see the steps to do this task. Here, I’m using Windows 10 build 21343. Let’s get started.

Remove Create a New Video Option

Open Registry Editor. I suggest you take a backup of the Registry before proceeding.

Go to the following keys: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > AppX43hnxtbyyps62jhe9sqpdzxn1790zetc > Shell > ShellCreateVideo.

Right-click on a space in the right pane.

Select New > String Value.

Provide the name as ProgrammaticAccessOnly and then press the Enter key.

That’s all. Now, right-click on the image file and you cannot see the Create a new video option.

If you want to add this option to the context menu, then all you need to do is remove the String Value you have created above.

Here’s an alternative method to do the same task:

Open the Settings app.

Hit Apps.

Hit Default Apps in the left sidebar,

Click on “Photos” in the “Photo viewer” section.

Choose any app other than “Photos.”

That’s it. You can now see the change in the context menu if you right-click on an image file.

If you want to add this option to the context menu, then all you need to do is follow the above steps and select Photos.
