Here are the steps:
Open WhatsApp app.
Hit the Settings at the bottom if you’re on iPhone. Hit the three vertical dots at the top right and tap “Settings” if you’re using Android.
Select Account > Privacy.
You can see the “Read Receipts” option now. Disable (to turn it off) or enable (to turn it on) it.
Note: At the time of this writing, WhatsApp Web doesn’t have an option to disable read receipts.
