How to Enable or Disable Popup in Chrome, Firefox and Edge

You can enable or disable pop-up on the browser (Chrome, Firefox, and Edge).

In this post, we will see the steps to do this task on PC and Android. Let’s get started.

PC

Chrome

By default, the pop-up is disabled in the Chrome web browser. Here are the steps to enable it:

Go to this URL in Chrome: chrome://settings/content/popups

Now, you can see a toggle beside “Blocked (Recommended).” Click on it to allow the pop-up.

That is all. The pop-up is enabled.

Note:

You can allow pop-up for specific sites you want without enabling pop-up and here is how:

Click on “Add” beside “Allow.” In the pop-up, enter the site URL and then click “Add.”

That is all. The website’s pop-up will be allowed and repeat the above steps for all the sites for which you want to allow the pop-up.

​Also, keep in mind that to disable pop-up, click on toggle beside “Allowed.”

Firefox

By default, the pop-up is disabled in the Firefox web browser. Here are the steps to enable it:

Click Hamburger (three vertical lines) icon > Options > Privacy & Security.

Under the “Permissions” section, you can see “Block pop-up windows.” Uncheck this option if you want to enable pop-up.

That is all. The pop-up is enabled.

Note:

You can allow pop-up for certain websites alone without enabling pop-up and here is how:

Click on the “Exceptions” button, and you can see a pop-up. Type the website URL for which you want to allow pop-up in the “Address of website” field and then click the “Allow” button. Repeat the previous step and add the websites you want. After that, click on the “Save Changes” button.

Also, remember that to disable pop-up, check the “Block pop-up windows” option.

Edge

By default, the pop-up is disabled in the Edge web browser. Here is how you can enable it:

Open Edge. Click on three horizontal dots > Settings > View advanced settings.

Click the toggle under “Block pop-ups.”

That’s it. The pop-up is enabled.

Note: You can disable pop-up by clicking the toggle under “Block pop-ups.”

Android

By default, the pop-up is disabled on all the below Android browsers.

Chrome

Open Google Chrome app. Tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) > Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups.

Now, you can see toggle beside “Pop-ups.” Tap on it.

That is all. Popup is successfully enabled.

​Note: The above steps are the same to disable pop-up in the Chrome app.

Firefox

Open Firefox app. In the Address Bar, type about:config.

Now, in the Search Box at the top, type dom.disable. Double-tap “dom.disable_open_during_load.”

That is all. The pop-up is successfully enabled.

Note: The above steps are the same to disable pop-up in the Firefox app. Make sure that the value is “true” in “dom.disable_open_during_load.”

Edge

Open Microsoft Edge app. Tap three horizontal dots at the bottom.

Tap Settings > Site permissions > Pop-ups. Now, tap the toggle beside “Pop-ups.”

That is all. The pop-up is enabled successfully.

Note: ​The above steps are the same to disable pop-up in Edge.
