How to Enable or Disable Pop-up Description in Windows 10

When you hover your mouse over an item in Windows 10 File Explorer or Desktop, you can see pop-up description.

If you don't like pop-up description, then you can disable it. Here are the steps for it:

  • angle-double-right
    ​Open Run Command Box (press Windows key + R). Type "control folders" (without double quotes) and then press "Enter" key.

    In the "File Explorer Options," navigate to "View" tab.

    Find and unselect "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items."
  • angle-double-right
    Hit "OK."

​That is all. No more pop-up description in Windows 10 File Explorer and Desktop.

​Note: keep in mind that the pop-up description will be shown in Start Menu, Taskbar and Notification Area even if you have unselected "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items" option.

​In case, if you want to enable pop-up description in future, select the "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items" option and then click "OK."
