How to Pin Website to Windows 10 Taskbar or Start Menu

You can pin any site you want to the Windows 10 Taskbar or Start Menu.

In this post, we will see how to pin website to Taskbar or Start Menu using web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Edge in Windows 10. Let's see how.

Edge Browser

Microsoft Edge has the inbuilt option within the browser to do these tasks which make the whole process a lot easier.

Moreover, here are the steps:

    Open Edge browser.

    Go to the site that you want to pin.

    Click the three horizontal dots at the top right corner.

To pin a website to Windows 10 Taskbar

Click on the "Pin this page to the taskbar" option. You can see the site shortcut in the Taskbar now.

To pin a website to Windows 10 Start Menu

Click on the "Pin this page to Start" option.

In the confirmation popup, click "Yes."

That is all. Now, you can see the pinned site within the Start Menu.

Chrome Browser

Here, we will see two ways to do this task.

The first method is using Chrome Browser's inbuilt option which helps you to add website as Chrome app to the Desktop. Moreover, later you can pin that Chrome app to the Start Menu or Taskbar.

The second method contains creation of a website shortcut and then pinning it to the Start Menu or Taskbar.

I suggest you to go with the second method because the removal process of the first method is difficult (which you can see it at the last section of this post).

However, you can choose any method you prefer, Let's get started.

    Go to the site you want to pin.

    Click on three vertical dots at the top right corner.

    Select More tools > Add to desktop.

    In the confirmation popup, Click "Add" button.

That's it. The shortcut is added to the Desktop.

To pin website to Taskbar

Right click on it and select "Pin to taskbar."

That is all. You can see the pinned site in the Taskbar now.

To pin website to Start Menu

Right click on it and select "Pin to Start."

That's it. The site is pinned to the Start Menu.

After you pinned, remove the shortcut in the Desktop if you wish.

    To create a shortcut, right-click on the Desktop and choose New > Shortcut.

    Click "Browse" button and choose Chrome application file on your PC.

    Now, you can see Chrome application file URL in the location field.

    Append the following to it.-url "https:https://www.technologyhint.com"

    Replace our site URL with the URL you want.

    Click "Next."

    Provide a name for the shortcut and then click "Finish." Now, you can see the site shortcut on the Desktop.

    Now, right-click the shortcut.

    Choose "Pin to taskbar" if you want to pin the site to Taskbar.

After you pinned website, delete the shortcut in the Desktop if you wish.

Firefox Browser

There isn't any inbuilt option in Firefox browser to do this task. However, if you want to pin a website which you want to open in Firefox browser, then follow the below steps:

First, you need to create a shortcut to the site, and then you can pin it to Taskbar or Start Menu. Here are the steps:

    Right-click on Desktop and select New > Shortcut.

    Click the "Browse" button and select the Mozilla Firefox application file.
  • angle-double-right
    Now, you can see the URL of the Firefox application in the location field.

    Append the following to it.-url "https:https://www.technologyhint.com"

    You can replace our site URL with the site URL you want.

    Click "Next" and provide a name for the shortcut. Click "Finish" button, and you can see the shortcut on the Desktop now.

To pin website to Taskbar

Right-click on the shortcut and select "Pin to taskbar."

To pin website to Start Menu

Right-click on the shortcut and then select "Pin to Start."

After you pinned site, remove the shortcut in the desktop if you wish.

Unpin from Taskbar or Start Menu

To unpin from Start Menu, right click on the tile and choose "Unpin from Start."

To unpin from Taskbar, right click on the shortcut and choose "Unpin from taskbar."

If you have used the First Method of Chrome Browser and want to remove the one you created from other places (except the Start Menu, Desktop, and Taskbar), then follow the below steps:

Open Run Command Box, type "shell:programs" (without double quotes) and then press "Enter" key.

Open "Chrome Apps" folder. Find and right-click the site chrome app that you have created. Choose "Delete" option.

Open Chrome browser, type "chrome://apps" (without quotes) on Address Bar, and then press "Enter" key. Now, you can see the one you have created.

Right-click on it, choose "Remove from Chrome" option, click "Remove" on the confirmation popup.
