How to Pin a Tab in Chrome, Firefox and Edge

​A pinned tab is a tab that is pinned. Here are some of the essential things to note about pinned tab:

  • ​Pinned tab only shows site's favicon.
  • When you pin a tab, it will be moved to the left corner of the browser.
  • A pinned tab will not have a close button because to avoid accidental closing. However, you can close a pinned tab by right-clicking on it and then click "Close Tab" option OR by using Ctrl + W keys.
  • Not only in regular browsing window, but ​you can also pin tab in private browsing window of Chrome and Firefox. Edge only allows you to pin tab in regular browsing window.​
  • The browser will open with the pinned tab(s) if you have closed the browser with the pinned tab(s). It is not the case for private browsing window.

​With all that said, let's see how to pin a tab in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Right-click on the tab you wish to pin and then click "Pin tab" option.

You can unpin the tab you pinned at any time you wish and here is the step: Right-click on the pinned tab and then click "Unpin tab" option.

Firefox

Right-click on the tab you want to pin. Now, you can see "Pin Tab" option (which is in between "Mute Tab" option and "Duplicate Tab" option). Click on it.

You can unpin pinned tab at any time you want and here is how: Right-click on the pinned tab and then click "Unpin Tab" option.

Right-click on the tab you like to pin and then click "Pin."
