  • On Android and iPhone, muting chat means you won’t receive notifications, vibrations, and sounds for new messages.
  • Muting chat applies to messages of that chat and not for calls.

WhatsApp’s pin chat feature allows you to pin chats of your choice. This one is available on WhatsApp Web, Android, and iPhone.

When you pin conversation, it’ll appear at the top of the Chats tab, making finding it easier and quicker.

Note that no one knows when you pin a chat, and the pinned chats are always at the top until unpinned.

You can pin up to three conversations, and they can be group or contact chats.

Let’s see the steps.

Here are steps to pin WhatsApp chat on Android and iPhone.

On Android, long-press the chat in WhatsApp. If you wish, you can select up to three conversations. Tap the “Pin” icon on top.

How to Hide WhatsApp Chat

Before you proceed with steps, here are vital things to note:

  • Archive chat feature lets you hide WhatsApp chats.
  • By default, when you archive chats, they’ll be moved to the “Archived” folder with their notifications turned off. Even if you receive new messages or send messages from an archived conversation, it’ll remain there forever unless you unarchive it.
  • But remember, if you’re mentioned or quoted, you’ll receive notification, and archived chat will remain in the “Archived” folder.
  • You can set the archived chat to get unarchived automatically when a new message is received or when a message is sent from it. I’ve discussed it in this section (How to Change the Default Archive Setting).
  • Archiving chat won’t delete it.
  • WhatsApp doesn’t back up archived chats.

Let’s see how to hide WhatsApp chat (group or contact) on Android, iPhone, and WhatsApp Web.
