What is the Preview Pane Feature

Also keep in mind that when you show the preview pane, then:

  • It replaces details pane if already enabled.

Open the File Explorer. Press Alt and P keys together.

Follow the steps below to hide preview handlers:

Open the File Explorer Options.

Navigate to the View tab.

Deactivate the option “Show preview handlers in preview pane.”

Press the “OK” button at the bottom.

What is the Details Pane

Details pane is a pane on the right side of the File Explorer. It displays the information about the file or folder you have selected. Information may vary depending on the selected item.

By default, you cannot find it in the File Explorer window.

Remember that the steps to hide and show are the same. Also, remember that if you show the details pane, then:

  • It replaces the preview pane if it is already activated.
  • This applies to every folder.

Navigation pane is a pane on the left side of the File Explorer. This is for navigation purposes. You can find Quick access, OneDrive, This PC and Network here.

You can see it in the File Explorer by default.

Navigate to the View tab on the Ribbon.

Click on the “Navigation pane” in the “Panes” section.
