Method #1

Launch Device Manager using the devmgmt.msc command in any of the following programs:

  • Windows PowerShell
  • Task Manager (Click File and then “Run new task” to use this command)

Open the Start menu. Type device manager.

Click on “Device Manager” in the search results.

Method #3

Press the Windows key and X key simultaneously, or right-click on the “Start” button to open the Power user menu.

Select the Device Manager between “System” and “Network Connections.”

It’s worth noting that you’re in the “Category” view if you don’t view Device Manager. In this case, click on Hardware and Sound > Device Manager.

How to Create a Device Manager Shortcut

You can create a Device Manager shortcut on your Windows 11 desktop or File Explorer by following the steps below.

Right-click on the desktop or File Explorer blank area. Hover your mouse over “New” in the context menu.

Select “Shortcut.” Type devmgmt.msc in the “Create Shortcut” popup. Click the “Next” button.

If you don’t like the suggested shortcut name, enter your own. Click on the “Finish” button.

How to Enable or Disable a Device in Device Manager

In the Windows 11 Device Manager, you can enable and disable the device. Here’s how.

Launch Device Manager. Locate the device you wish to enable or disable and right-click on it.

The “Disable device” option will appear if the device is already enabled. The “Enable device” option is available if the device is already disabled.

Select the option. If you’re disabling it, a popup will ask you to confirm and click Yes on it.

Select the button. If you’re disabling it, a popup will ask you to confirm and click Yes on it.

Click the OK button.
