How to Move Files and Folders on Android

Moving files and folders on Android is a simple task and here's how you can do that:

  • angle-right
Open default file manager (the one that comes with your Android device).
  • angle-right
Find and select the one(s) that you want to move.

Note:

To select a single item, long press it.

To choose multiple items, long press the first one you want to select and then tap the remaining ones.

To select all items in a single location, long press the first one and then tap "1 Selected" at the top. Now, you can see "Select all." Tap it, and all items will get selected.

  • angle-right
Hit the Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) at the top and then tap "Move to" option.

Now, navigate to the folder you prefer. Once you are in that folder, hit the "Paste" icon at the top.

That's all. All the selected items are successfully moved.

Alternate Way:

You can do this task using a third-party file manager app. In this instance, I'm using ES File Explorer File Manager app.

  • angle-double-right
    Open ES File Explorer.
  • angle-double-right
Find and select the item(s) that you want to move.
  • angle-double-right
Hit the "More" at the bottom which you can find besides "Rename" and then tap "Move to" option.

  • angle-double-right
In the "Move to" popup, tap the folder you prefer and then hit "OK."

That's it. All done.
