How to Highlight Text in Google Docs

In this post, we’ll see how to highlight text in Google Docs (PC, Android, and iPhone). Let’s get started.

PC

Steps

  1. Sign in to Google Docs.

  2. ​Open the document and then select the text you want to highlight.

  3. ​Now, click on “Highlight color” icon at the top which you can find between “Text color” and “Insert link.”

  4. Click on the color you want.

That’s it. All done.

If you want to remove the text highlighting, then select the highlighted text and then hit the “Highlight color” icon at the top. Now, select “None.”

Android

  1. ​Open Google Docs app.
  2. ​Open the document and then hit the “Pencil” icon at the bottom.
  3. ​Select the text you want to highlight and then hit the “Format” icon which you find on the left side of the “+” icon.
  4. ​Now, under “Text,” you can see “Highlight colour.” Tap on it.
  5. ​Choose the color you want.

That’s all. All done.

To remove text highlighting, follow the below steps:

Select the highlighted text. Hit the “Format” icon and then tap the “Highlight colour.” Choose “None.”

iPhone

  1. Open Google Docs app.
  2. Open the document and then hit the “Pencil” icon.
  3. Now, select the text and then hit the “Format” icon which you can see on the right side of the “+” icon.
  4. Under the “Text” section, you can see “Highlight colour.” Tap it.
  5. Choose the color you want.

That’s it. All done.

To remove text highlighting: select the highlighted text. Hit Format icon > Highlight colour. Tap “No colour.”
