How to Find Birthdays on Facebook

See the steps below to find the upcoming birthdays of your friends and your specific friend’s birthday.

Here, I’m using a PC, Android, and iPhone. Let’s start with the latter and then the former.

How to Find Your Specific Friend Birthday

PC

If you want to find a friend’s birthday, visit their profile.

Click on About.

Please click Contact and Basic Info.

You can see the birth date, birth year, both, or none of those on the right, depending on what they haven’t hidden.

That’s it.

Android or iPhone

Go to the profile of the friend whose birthday you would like to know.

Hit X’s About Info. X is the name of your friend.

Based on what they haven’t hidden, you can find their birth date, birth year, both or none of those in the Basic Info section.

How to Find Upcoming Birthdays on Facebook

Note: Remember that you only see the upcoming birthday of friends who have not hidden the birthday.

PC

Log in to your Facebook account.

Click on the “Events” on the left sidebar. If you can’t see it, then hit See More to see it.

Hit “Birthdays” on the left sidebar.

That’s it. You’ll see your friends upcoming birthday.

The following is an alternative method. Let’s see the steps:

Visit your profile and click the Friends tab.

You can find there the Birthdays tab. Please click on it.

Now you will see your friends upcoming birthday.

Android or iPhone

Open the Facebook app.

Tap on the “Search” icon at the top right. In the search box, type “birthdays” and hit the “Search” key on the keyboard.

You’ll see the “Birthdays” section. Hit the “See All” button within it.

That’s it. You can check out the upcoming birthday of your friends.

How to Hide or Change Birthday and Gender on Facebook

Here, I’m using PC, Android, and iPhone.

PC

If you’re using a PC, follow these steps:

Go to your FB profile.

Click “About” which you can find beneath the cover photo.

Hit Contact and Basic Info.

To hide your birthday, follow these steps:

Under the “Basic Info” section, you will see “Birth date.” Click on the “Pencil” icon next to it.

Besides your date of birth and year, you will see their current privacy settings. If you want to hide the year, you need to click the privacy setting beside it. If you want to hide the rest, then you need to hit its privacy setting.

Once you hit the one you prefer, you will see these options:

  • Public (anyone can see it)
  • Only me (only you see it)
  • Custom (this is for including and excluding certain friends and lists to see it)

Select the one you prefer.

Click on the “Save” button and that’s it.

To change your birthday, follow these steps:

Under the “Basic Info” section, you will see “Birth date.” Click on the “Pencil” icon next to it.

Change the date, month, and year to your liking by opening the corresponding drop-down list.

Check the box “I confirm that I am (number) years old.”

Click on the “Save” button.

To change or hide gender, follow these steps:

In the “Basic Info” section, you can see the “Gender.” Click on the “pencil” icon next to it.

You will see a drop-down list. Open it and then select the gender.

Uncheck “Show on my timeline” if you do not want to display gender on the timeline.

Click on the “Save” button.

Android or iPhone

If you’re using Android or iPhone, follow these steps:

Go to your profile on the Facebook app.

Tap “See Your About Info.” You can find this one above the “Edit Public Details” button.

Click “Edit” next to “Basic Info.”

To hide your birthday, follow these steps:

Beneath the “Birthday” and “Birth Year” sections, you will see the drop-down list. If you want to hide year, then you need to hit the drop-down list of “Birth Year.” If you want to hide rest, then you need to hit the drop-down list of “Birthday.”

Open the drop-down list you prefer, and you can view these options:

  • Public (anyone can see)
  • Only me (only you see)

Choose the one you prefer.

Hit on the “Save” at the top right. That’s all.

To change your birthday, follow these steps:

In the “Birthday” section, you’ll see two drop-down lists (one for the month and another one for the day). In the “Birth Year” section, you’ll see a drop-down list which is for the year.

Tap the drop-down list you prefer and make the changes to your liking. Tap OK.

Check the box “I confirm that I am (number) years old.”

Hit the “Save” at the top right. That’s it.

To change or hide gender, follow these steps:

Under “Gender,” select the gender.

Tap the drop-down list under “Gender” and select “Hidden from timeline” if you don’t want to display gender on the timeline.

You can see the “Save” at the top right. Hit it.

That’s all.

How to Turn Off Birthday Notifications on Facebook

Here I’m using Android, iPhone, and PC.

PC

Log in to Facebook.

Click on the inverted triangle at the top right.

Hit Settings & Privacy > Settings.

Click the “Notifications” on the left sidebar.

Hit “Birthdays.”

You can now view in-app (the first one), Push, SMS, and Email.

If you do not want a specific one (Push, SMS, or Email), then turn off the toggle switch beside it.

If you don’t want upcoming birthday notifications, then disable the toggle switch next to “Upcoming Birthdays.”

If you don’t want belated birthday notifications, then disable the toggle switch next to “Belated Birthdays.”

In order to completely turn off any birthday notifications, turn off the toggle switch next to “Allow notifications on Facebook.”

If you turn this off, all the others will be turned off as well.

Android or iPhone

Open Facebook for Android or iPhone.

Tap the Menu (three horizontal lines) at the bottom if you’re on iPhone or top if you’re on Android.

Select Settings & Privacy > Settings.

Hit “Notifications” in the Preferences section. You can find the former between “Reaction Preferences” and “Shortcuts.”

Tap “Birthdays.” You can find this one between “People You May Know” and “Groups.”

You can now view in-app (the first one), Push, SMS, and Email.

If you do not want a specific one (Push, SMS, or Email), then turn off the toggle switch beside it.

If you don’t want upcoming birthday notifications, then disable the toggle switch next to “Upcoming Birthdays.”

If you don’t want belated birthday notifications, then disable the toggle switch next to “Belated Birthdays.”

In order to completely turn off any birthday notifications, turn off the toggle switch next to “Allow notifications on Facebook.”

In the confirmation pop-up, tap “Turn Off.”

If you turn this off, all the others will be turned off as well.
