How to Add a Link in Google Docs

Adding a hyperlink (also referred as a link) into a Google Docs document is a simple task and here's how you can do that on PC and Android:

PC

    ​Go to Google Docs. Sign in if not already.

    ​Open the document and then select the text. Keep in mind that the text you've selected is the anchor text.

    ​Hit the "Insert link" icon at the top which you can find between "Highlight color" and "Add comment."

    ​Now, change the text if you wish and then enter the URL or email address as per your wish in the "Link" field.

Note: If you want to link to another Google Docs document, then type the document name in the "Link" field, and you'll be shown the document. Click on it to add it to the "Link" field. This one applies to the Google Docs for Android too.

    ​Hit the "Apply" button.

That's all. The link is added successfully.

If you want to edit a link, click on it and then click "Change." Now, you can change the anchor text and URL of the link.

Click on "Remove" to remove the hyperlink.

Android

    ​Open Google Docs app.

    ​Open the document and then hit the "Pencil" icon at the bottom.

    ​Select the text. Remember that the text you've selected is the anchor text.

    ​Hit the "+" icon at the top, and then you can see "Link" option under "Insert." Tap on the "Link" option.

    ​In the "Insert Link" screen, change the text if you wish and then enter the URL or email address in the "Link" field.

    ​Hit the "Tick" icon at the top.

That's it. The link is added successfully.

If you want to edit link, then tap on the link and tap "Edit Link" option to change the text and URL of the link.

If you want to remove the link, then tap on the link and tap on the Overflow Menu (three vertical dots). Now, you can see "Remove Link." Tap on it.
