Go to Google Docs. Sign in if not already. Open the document and then put the cursor at where you want the image to be placed.
Hit the "Insert" at the top. Hover your mouse over "Image" option. Now, you can see these options:

Search the web - Opens Google Images sidebar from where you can search image and then insert the one you want.

Photos - Opens the Google Photos sidebar from where you can pick the image you prefer.
By URL - Insert the URL of the image which you want to insert into the document.
Camera - Opens webcam which you can use to take an image and then insert it.
Pick the option you prefer.
In this instance, I select the "Upload from computer" option. Now, select the file and then click on "Open" button.
That's it. The image is inserted successfully.
Alternatively, you can insert the image by copying the image and then pressing Ctrl + V after you've put the cursor at where you want the image to be placed.
To resize the image you've inserted, select the image by clicking it and then drag the blue square you prefer to resize the image.
If you want to delete an image, then select the image you want to remove, right-click on it and then click on "Delete" option.
Open Google Docs app. Open the document and then hit the "Pencil" icon at the bottom.
Put the cursor in the place where you want the picture to be placed. Hit the "+" icon at the top and then hit the "Image" option.
Now, you can see three options - From photos (To insert the image in your phone), From camera (Opens camera which you can use to take a picture and then add it), and From web (To search your docs and the web).
Pick the one you prefer.
In this instance, I choose "From photos." Now, find and tap the image you prefer.
That's all. The picture is inserted successfully.
If you want to resize an image, then hit the Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) at the top and then tap the "Print layout" option. Now, select the image by tapping it, and you can see the blue box around the image. Drag the blue box you prefer to resize the image. After you've resized, if you wish, tap the Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) at the top and then tap "Print layout."
If you want to delete an image, then tap the picture you want to remove and then tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots). Tap the "Delete" option.
Keep in mind that you should have the license to use for the image you want to use.
The allowed image formats are - GIF (non-animated GIF for Google Docs for Android), JPEG and PNG and the image should be less than the 50 MB size.
