How to Disable Conversation View in Gmail

By default, conversation view is enabled in Gmail web version (PC) and app (Android).

If you don't like it, then you can disable it and here's how you can do that on PC and Android:

Note: Keep in mind that the change you'll make will apply to your Gmail account. In other words, if you turned off conversation view in the web version, it will reflect it in the app and vice versa.

PC

    ​Go to Gmail. Sign in if not already.

    ​Hit the "Gear" icon and then hit "Settings."
  • angle-right
    ​Under "General," you can see "Conversation View." Beside it, you can see "Conversation view off" option. Click on it.

    ​Hit "Save Changes" button at the bottom.

That's all. All done.

If you want to enable conversation view, then follow these steps:

Under "General," find "Conversation View." Beside it, you can see "Conversation view on" option. Click on it.

Click on "Save Changes" button at the bottom.

Android

    ​Open the Gmail app.
  • angle-double-right
    ​Tap on Hamburger icon (three vertical lines) at the top and then tap "Settings."

    ​Tap on the email address for which you want to disable conversation view.
  • angle-double-right
    ​Now, find and tap "Conversation view."
  • angle-double-right
    ​The process will begin, and after that, you can see ​a popup like this:

​Tap the "Got It" option in the popup and that's it. All done.
