In this post, you’ll see:
Here, I’m using WhatsApp Web, Android, and iPhone. Let’s start.
How to Change WhatsApp Font Size
Open the WhatsApp app. Tap the three vertical dots at the top right.
Select “Settings.” Tap “Chats” between “Account” and “Notifications.”
Select “Font size,” which is beneath Media visibility.
In the popup, you’ll see these three options – Small, Medium, and Large.
Choose the one you want.
That’s all. You’ll see the font size change on the chat screen for contacts and groups. Also, keep in mind that the font size change only applies to you.
WhatsApp for iPhone has no option to change the font size like WhatsApp for Android.
But you can change the WhatsApp font size by changing the text size of the iPhone.
On WhatsApp Web, you can change the font size by using the “zoom” option in the browser. I’m using the Chrome browser here.
Press the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel down to make the font size bigger.
To make the font size smaller, press the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel up.
Here’s an alternate method:
Open WhatsApp Web. Click the three vertical dots at the top right.
Besides Zoom, you can see + and -. The former is for increasing the font size, and the latter is for decreasing it. Use the one you prefer.
How to Make WhatsApp Text Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, and Monospace
Remember that you can apply over one format (except monospace) to the text. For example, you can use bold and italic to the exact text.
Open WhatsApp chat. Type the text and select the text you want to format.
You’ll see the “Bold” and “Italic” options. Tap the former to make your text bold and the latter to make your text italic.
If you prefer strikethrough or monospace, then tap the three vertical dots, and you’ll see the “Strikethrough” and “Monospace” options. Tap the one you like.
You can now see the formatting in the text. Don’t worry about the “special characters” around the text. They won’t be there in the message you sent.
You can also do this task in another way. Please refer below (WhatsApp Web) for that.
Open WhatsApp chat and type the text. Select the text you want to format.
You’ll see the “BIU” option. Tap it, and you’ll see the Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, and Monospace options.
Select the one you like.
You can see the formatting in the text. Don’t worry about the “special characters” around the text. They won’t be there in the message you sent.

You can follow these steps to format the text on WhatsApp Web. Keep in mind that this method applies to the iPhone and Android too.
Here are the steps:
- To make text bold, type the words between two asterisks (For instance: *Hi*).
- To make the text italic, type the text between two underscores (Example: _Hi_).
- To make the text strikethrough, type the words between two tildes (Example: ~Hi~).
- To make text monospace, type the words between three backticks.
You can see the formatting in the text if you’re on Android or iPhone. For WhatsApp Web, this isn’t the case.
Don’t worry about the “special characters” around the text. They won’t be there in the message you sent.
