How to Create a Folder on iPhone’s Home Screen

In this post, we’ll see how to create a folder on iPhone’s home screen. In this instance, I’m using iPhone X. Let’s get started.

Steps

  1. Long-press an app (in our instance: Facebook) you want to be in the folder.

  2. Now, the apps and folder start to jiggle.

  3. Drag the app (in our instance: Facebook) and drop it on another app you want to be in the folder (in our example: Twitter).

  4. Tap “Done” at the top.

That’s it. All done.

By default, the category of the app (in our instance: Facebook) which you drag and drop it on another app will be given to the folder name. In our case, it is “Social.”

Renaming the folder is a simple task and here’s how you can do that:

Long press the folder and you can see that the apps and folders start to jiggle.

Tap the folder and then tap its name at the top. Clear the existing name, provide a new one and then tap “Done” in the keyboard.

Now, tap outside the folder and then tap “Done” at the top.

Here are some important things to note:

You can add an app to the folder at any time you want, and here’s how:

Long press the app. Once the apps and folders start to jiggle, drag and drop it in the folder. Tap “Done.”

You can remove an app from the folder by these steps:

Open the folder.

Long press the app you want to remove. Once the apps and folders start to jiggle, drag and drop it in the home screen.

Tap “Done.”

If you want to remove the folder, then follow the below steps:

Open the folder.

Long-press an app and the apps and folders start to jiggle.

Drag and drop an app to the home screen.

Now, repeat steps (1 and 3) until the folder disappears.

Hit “Done.”
