How to Create a Folder on Android and iPhone Home Screen?

How to Create a Folder on Home Screen of Android Pie

  1. Long press a shortcut on the home screen, which you want to be in the folder.
  2. Now, drag and drop it on another shortcut on the home screen, which you prefer to be in the folder.

That’s it. Now, you can see the folder on the home screen.

To Name Folder

  1. Tap the folder to open it.
  2. Hit Unnamed Folder, begin entering the name you wish, after that, tap Enter key on your keyboard.

Add Shortcut to Folder

Long press the shortcut and then drag and drop it on the folder.

Remove Shortcut from Folder

Use any of the following ways:

  • Open the folder. Long press the shortcut. Drag and drop it on the home screen from the folder.
  • Long-press the shortcut in the folder, drag and drop it on the Remove option at the top.

Delete Folder

Use any of the following methods:

  • Remove the shortcuts in the folder by using any of the above ways. You can see that the folder disappears while one shortcut left in it and that shortcut placed on the home screen. Because a folder exists only when the two shortcuts in there.
  • Long-press the folder, drag and drop it on the Remove option at the top. Remember that this one will delete the folder along with the shortcuts within it.

How to Create a Folder on Home Screen of iPhone X

  1. Long-press an app (in our instance: Facebook) you want to be in the folder.
  2. Now, the apps and folder jiggle.
  3. Drag the app (in our instance: Facebook) and drop it on another app you want to be in the folder (in our example: Twitter).
  4. Tap Done at the top.

That’s it.

By default, the category of the app (in our instance: Facebook) which you drag and drop it on another app will be given to the folder name. In our case, it is Social.

Rename Folder

  1. Long press the folder and you can see that the apps and folders jiggle.
  2. Tap the folder and then tap its name at the top. Clear the existing name, provide a new one and then tap Done in the keyboard.
  3. Now, tap outside the folder and then tap Done at the top.

Add an App to Folder

  1. Long press the app.
  2. Once the apps and folders jiggle, drag and drop it in the folder.
  3. Tap Done.

Remove an App from Folder

  1. Open the folder.
  2. Long press the app you want to remove. Once the apps and folders jiggle, drag and drop it in the home screen.
  3. Tap Done.

Remove Folder

  1. Open the folder.
  2. Long-press an app and the apps and folders jiggle.
  3. Drag and drop an app to the home screen.
  4. Now, repeat steps (1 and 3) until the folder disappears.
  5. Hit Done.
