Firefox Shortcut Keys

In my previous post, we have seen Chrome keyboard shortcuts.

In this post, we will see Mozilla Firefox shortcut keys that work on Windows PC. Without any delay, let's see what they are.

F5 (or Ctrl + R)

Refresh the page.

Ctrl + F5 (or Ctrl + Shift + R)

Refresh the page and ignores cache.

Escape key

Stops page loading.

F11

Turn on Fullscreen mode. Press the same key to exit Fullscreen mode.

Ctrl and +

Zoom in.

Ctrl + -

Zoom out.

Ctrl + O

Bring the webpage to the default view.

Alt + Home

Ctrl + N

Open new window.

Ctrl + Shift + P

Ctrl + T

Open a new tab.

Ctrl + Shift + T

Ctrl + D

Ctrl + Shift + D

Used to bookmark all the tabs. Also, you need to provide the folder name, choose its location and then click on "Add Bookmark" button to complete this task.

Ctrl + Shift + B

Open "Other Bookmarks."

Ctrl + B (or I)

Open Bookmarks sidebar. Pressing the same keys will undo it.

Ctrl + J

Open "Downloads."

Ctrl + A

Select all the content of the current tab.

Ctrl + C

Copy the content.

Ctrl + V

Paste the content (depending on where the cursor is).

Ctrl + M

Mute the tab. Pressing the same keys will unmute tab.

Ctrl + L (or K or E or Alt + D or F6)

Bring the focus to the Address Bar.

Ctrl + H

Open Browing History sidebar. Pressing the same keys will undo it.

Ctrl + F

Open Find bar.

Ctrl + G (or F3 or Enter)

Find the next instances of the search term.

Ctrl + Shift + G (or Shift + F3 or Shift + Enter)

Find the previous instances of the search term.

Ctrl + S

Open "Save" dialog.

Ctrl + P

Open "Print" dialog.

Ctrl + O

Open "Open" dialog.

Ctrl + U

Open the source code of the current webpage in a new tab.

Ctrl + (1-8)

Take you to the corresponding numbered tab. For instance - if you press Ctrl + 2, you will be taken to the second tab.

​Take you to the last tab of the current Firefox window.

Ctrl + W (or Ctrl + F4)

Close current tab.

Ctrl + Shift + W (or Alt + F4)

Close current Firefox window with all its tabs. You need to click "Close tabs" in the confirmation popup to complete the task.

Ctrl + Shift + Q

Close Firefox completely (including all its windows).

Ctrl + Tab (or Ctrl + Page Down)

Ctrl + Shift + Tab (or Ctrl + Page Up)

Take you to the previous tab.

Ctrl + Shift + Page Up

Change the position of the current tab in the Firefox window on the left side.

Ctrl + Shift + Page Down

Change the position of the current tab in the Firefox window on the right side.

Alt + left arrow (or Backspace key)

Take you to the webpage in a retrograde manner.

Take you to the webpage in a forward manner.

Space Bar (or Page Down key)

Scroll down on the webpage.

Shift + Space Bar (or Page Up key)

Scroll up on the webpage.

Ctrl + Up arrow (or Home)

Take you to the top of the page.

Ctrl + Down arrow (or End)

Take you to the bottom of the page.

Ctrl + Shift + A

Open Add-ons Manager.

F7

Open Caret Browsing popup. Click "Yes" on the popup to turn on Caret Browsing.

Open Context Menu.

Alt + B

Open Bookmarks Menu.

Open Edit Menu.

Ctrl + Shift + Delete

Open "Clear All History" popup.

Tab

Move to next clickable item in the browser.

Shift + Tab

Move to the previous clickable item in the browser.

Ctrl + Shift + X

If the focus is on the Address Bar, then the URL will be moved to the right. Press the same key to bring it to the left.

Ctrl + Shift + H

Open "History."

Enter

Open the selected link in the current tab.

Shift + Enter

Open the selected link in a new window.

Ctrl+ Enter

Open the selected link in a new tab. But, it didn't make new tab as the active tab.

Ctrl + Shift +Enter

Open the selected link in a new tab and make that new tab as active tab.

F12 (or Ctrl + Shift + I)

Open Developer Tools.

Ctrl + Shift + M

Open Responsive Design mode.

Shift + F4

Open Scratchpad window.

Shift + Ctrl + J

Open Browser Console window.

Shift + F8

Open Firefox WebIDE window.

Shift + F2

Open Developer Toolbar.

Shift + Ctrl + C

Open Inspector tab.

Shift + Ctrl + K

Open Console tab.

Shift + Ctrl + S

Open Debugger tab.

Shift + F5

Open Performance tab.

Open Style Editor tab.

Open Storage tab.

Here are some other important things to note:

Type website name in the Address bar and then press:

  • Ctrl + Enter - It will add www. and .com to the website name and opens that website.
  • Shift + Enter - It will add www. and .net to the website name and opens that website.
  • Ctrl + Shift + Enter - It will add www. and .org to the website name and opens that website.
