How to Hide or Show Favorites Bar on Microsoft Edge

In this post, you’ll see the different methods to display or hide the favorites bar in Microsoft Edge.

I’m using Windows 11 PC. Let’s start.

How to Hide or Show Favorites Bar on Edge

Open Edge browser.

Press CTRL + Shift + B. Using this keyboard shortcut, you can hide or show the favorites bar.

How to Hide or Show Favorites Bar on Microsoft Edge

Right-click on the favorites bar.

Hover your mouse over the “Show favorites bar.”

Here are the three options you have:

  • Always – Display the favorites bar on all tabs.
  • Never – Hide the favorites bar.
  • Only on new tabs – Show favorites bar only on the new tabs.

Hit the one you prefer.

That’s it.

Alternatively, you can view the above options by following these steps:

Hit the three horizontal dots at the top right of the browser.

Select “Favorites” and hit the three horizontal dots in the popup. Click on “Show favorites bar.”

How to Hide or Display Favorites Bar on Edge

Hit the three horizontal dots at the top right and click “Settings.”

Hit “Appearance” in the left sidebar.

You can see a drop-down list next to “Show favorites bar.”

Open it, and you’ll see these three options:

  • Always – Display the favorites bar on all tabs.
  • Never – Hide the favorites bar.
  • Only on new tabs – Show favorites bar only on the new tabs.

Pick the one you like.

How to Hide or Display Favorites Bar on Edge

Launch local group policy editor. Navigate to the Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge.

Then double-click “Enable favorites bar” in the right pane.

Select Enabled to display it. Select Disabled to hide it.

Hit the OK button.

That’s all.

How to Show or Hide Favorites Bar on Edge

To hide it, follow these steps:

Launch Registry Editor. I suggest a Registry backup before proceeding.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Edge.

If you don’t see the Edge key mentioned above, you need to create it, and here’s how: Right-click on the Microsoft key and select New > Key. Type Edge and then press Enter key.

Right-click on the blank space in the right pane.

Select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Type FavoritesBarEnabled and then hit Enter key.

That’s it.

Note: To display it, remove the DWORD you’ve created earlier or provide 1 in the Value data field of the DWORD.
