How to Turn Off Facebook In-App Sounds 2021

In this post, you’ll learn how to disable or enable in-app sounds (for instance: like sound) on Facebook and Facebook Messenger.

You’ll also see how to allow or stop videos from starting to play with sound.

Here, I’m using Android and iPhone. Let’s begin.

How to Turn On or Off In-App Sound on Facebook

Follow these steps if you’re using an iPhone:

Open the Facebook app.

At the bottom, hit on Menu.

Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media. You can find the latter between “Language and Region” and “Your Time on Facebook.”

Turn off In-App Sound.

That’s it.

Note: If you want it turned on, then turn on In-App Sound.

If you’re using Android, follow these steps:

Open the Facebook app.

Hit Menu (three horizontal lines) at the top.

Tap Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media. You can find the latter in the Preferences section.

Turn off “Sounds in the App.” You can find this one above “Links open externally.”

Note: If you want to turn it on, then turn on the “Sounds in the App.”

How to Turn On or Off In-App Sound on Facebook Messenger (Android or iPhone)

Launch the Facebook Messenger app.

Hit your profile picture on the top left.

Tap Notifications & Sounds.

Follow this step if you’re using Android: Enable (to enable) or disable (to disable) “In-app sounds.”

Follow this step if you’re using an iPhone: Turn on (to enable) or off (to disable) “While Using App.” This will enable or disable not only in-app sounds but also vibrations as well.

How to Turn Automatic Sound for Videos on Facebook On or Off (Android or iPhone)

Open the Facebook app.

Hit Menu (three horizontal lines) at the top if you’re using Android or bottom if you’re using iPhone.

Tap Settings & Privacy > Settings > Media.

You can now see the “Videos Start with Sound” option. Turn it on (for sound) or off (for no sound).
