How to See and Clear Download History on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge

Download history shows downloads you’ve made.

In this post, we’ll see how to see and clear download history on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Let’s get started.

How to See Download History

Chrome

You can see Chrome download history in three distinct ways. Here are they:

Method #1

Open Chrome. Press CTRL + J.

Method #2

Open Chrome.

Hit the three vertical dots at the top-right of the screen.

Click “Downloads” which is between “History” and “Bookmarks.”

Method #3

​In the address bar, type chrome://downloads. Hit “Enter” key.

Chrome for Android

Open the Chrome app.

Hit the three vertical dots at the top.

Hit “Downloads” which is between “History” and “Desktop site.” You see your chrome app download history.

Firefox

You can see Firefox download history in two unique ways. Here are they:

Method #1

​Open Firefox. Press CTRL + J.

Method #2

Hit the “Library” icon beside the address bar. Click on “Downloads.”

Or hit three vertical lines > Library > Downloads.

You see the recent downloads. If you want to see more downloads, click on the “Show All Downloads” option.

Microsoft Edge 

You can see Edge download history in three different methods. Here are they: 

Method #1 

Open Edge browser. Press CTRL + J. 

Method #2 

Open Edge. 

Type edge://downloads/all in the address bar. Hit “Enter” key. 

Method #3 

Launch Edge. 

Hit three horizontal dots at the top right. 

Hit “Downloads.” 

Edge for Android 

Open Edge app. 

Tap three horizontal dots. 

Tap “Downloads.” 


How to Clear Download History

Google Chrome

Access the Chrome download history (Press CTRL + J).

To remove an entry, click “X” in that entry.

To clear the entire download history, hit the three vertical dots at the top-right of the screen. Hit the “Clear all” option.

Chrome for Android

Open Chrome for Android.

Tap on three vertical dots > Downloads.

​To remove a single entry, hit the three vertical dots beside the entry you want to delete. Hit the “Delete” option.

If you want to delete multiple entries at once, long-press the ones you want to remove. Hit the “Trash can” icon at the top.

Unfortunately, there is no option to delete the entire download history.

Mozilla Firefox

Access the Firefox download history (Press CTRL + J).

To remove a single entry, right-click on the entry you want to delete. Hit the “Remove from History” option.

To delete the entire download history, click on the “Clear Downloads” option at the top.

Microsoft Edge 

Access Edge download history (Press CTRL + J). 

To remove a single entry: 

Hit “X” icon in the entry you like to remove. 

To remove all entries at once: 

Click on “Clear all” at the top. 

In the pop-up, hit “Remove all” button. 

Edge for Android 

Go to Edge download history. 

To remove a single entry: 

Hit three vertical dots in the entry you like to remove. 

Hit “Remove.” 

To remove all entries at once: 

Hit “Trash can” icon at the top. 

Hit “Clear” in the pop-up. 


Additional Hint

  • The downloads you’ve made while you’re in private browsing mode will not be displayed in the normal browsing mode’s download history. It applies to Chrome, Firefox, and Edge (PC and Android).
  • Keep in mind, removing entries from the download history of Chrome, Firefox, and Edge (PC and Android) will not remove downloaded files.
