Let’s get started.
How to disable Bing search suggestions in Windows 10 Start menu
If you search in the Start menu, you can see that the search results come from both your computer and the Bing search engine.
For example, look for the Registry Editor in the Start menu.
In the “Search the web” section or the Web tab, you will see Bing’s search suggestions.
If you click on one of the search suggestions, you will be taken to the search results for that in Bing.
If you press the right arrow next to the search suggestion, you will see a preview of the search results.
You can see the Bing search suggestions in the results because Windows 10 does a search in Bing for the search term you’ve entered in the Start menu. And that happens by default.
If you don’t want the Bing search suggestions, you can disable them, and here’s how:
Note: Remember that this not only disables search suggestions of Bing, but it’ll also disable the ad that recommends Edge in the Start menu when you search for a browser such as Chrome.
Open Run. Enter regedit and then press Enter.
Backup the Registry before proceeding.
Extend the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Windows.
Press the Explorer key.
In the right pane, right-click, select New > DWORD (32-bit Value).
Enter the name as DisableSearchBoxSuggestions and then press Enter.
Double-click this key and enter 1 in the Value data field.
Press the OK button.
Now open the Windows 10 Start menu. Look for the Registry Editor or something you like, and you can see that there are no Bing search suggestions.
In the search results, you can also see that there is no Web tab.
If you want to have Bing search suggestions, delete the DWORD you created and restart your computer or File Explorer.
How to remove Cortana button, Task View button, search box, and People icon
By default, the Windows 10 taskbar includes a search box, Cortana button, Task View button, and People icon.
If you like, you can remove this, and here’s how:
Right-click on the blank area in the taskbar.
Click on the “Show Cortana button,” “Show Task View button,” and “Show People on the taskbar” options in the context menu.
Move the mouse over the “Search” in the context menu and then select “Hidden.”
To reverse – repeat the steps above.
Move the mouse pointer over “Search” and select “Show search box.” If you want, you can also select the “Show search icon” that shows the search icon in the taskbar.
