Let’s see the steps to do this task. I’m using Google Pixel 4a (Android 12) and iPhone (iOS 15.2).
How to Enable or Disable Dark Mode in Android Messages App
Here are the steps:
Open Messages app.
Hit the three vertical dots in the upper right corner. Tap the “Choose theme” option, which you can find between “Device pairing” and “Starred.”
In the popup, you’ll see the following options:
- Light – Disable dark theme.
- Dark – Activate the dark theme.
- System default – Applies the Android dark mode status to the Messages app. For example, if your Android device is in dark mode, the app is in dark theme.
Choose the one you prefer and then tap OK.
That’s it. You can see the change now.
How to Enable or Disable Dark Theme in iPhone Messages App
The Messages app is on the dark theme if your iPhone is in dark mode.
If your iPhone is not in dark mode, the “Messages” is also not in dark theme.
Change your device’s dark mode state to bring the change to the Messages app.
