How to Create a Folder on Android

You can create a folder on Android by using an inbuilt file manager (the one that comes with Android) or third-party file manager.

Let's see how to do this task using both file managers (in this instance, I am using Moto G5 Plus).

Create a Folder on Android

Using Inbuilt File Manager

  • angle-right
    Open file manager.
  • angle-right
Go to the location where you want a new folder.
  • angle-right
If the location you chose has no folder, then you need to tap "+" icon at the top.

Note: If the location you chose has a folder, then you need to tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) > Create new folder.

Create new folder option
  • angle-right
Now, you can see "New Folder" popup where you can change the folder name if you wish. Tap "OK."

Notes:

  • To delete a folder: select the folder you want to remove by long pressing it and then tap the "Trash Can" icon at the top. Hit "OK" in the confirmation popup.
  • To delete multiple folders at once, follow these steps: select the folders you want to remove (long press the first one and then tap the remaining). Now, you can see "Trash Can" icon at the top. Tap it and then tap "OK" in the confirmation popup.
  • Keep in mind that the above steps or option name may vary on your device.

Using Third-Party File Manager

  • angle-double-right
Open ES File Explorer File Manager.
  • angle-double-right
Go to the location you want.
  • angle-double-right
Tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) at the top.
  • angle-double-right
    Now, tap New > Folder.

  • angle-double-right
In the popup, change the folder name if you wish and then tap "OK."

To Delete a Folder:

  • angle-right
Select the folder you want to delete by long pressing it.
  • angle-right
You can see "Trash Can" icon at the bottom. Tap on it.
  • angle-right
You can see confirmation popup now. By default, when you delete an item using ES File Explorer, it will be moved to the "Recycle Bin" of ES File Explorer. If you are OK with it, tap "OK" in the popup. Otherwise, uncheck "Move to recycle bin" option and then tap "OK."

Note: You can delete multiple folders at once using ES File Explorer. All you need to do is selecting the folders you want to remove and then follow the above steps.
