How to Change Position of Taskbar in Windows 10

Windows 10 Taskbar, by default, located at the bottom of the screen.

If you wish, you can change its position to top, left or right.

In this post, we will see two different ways to do this task. You can choose a method you want. Let's look at those ways in detail.

Change position of Taskbar in Windows 10

By default, the Taskbar is locked. When the Taskbar is locked, you cannot resize or change its position.

In our first method, we are going to unlock Taskbar and then change its position using the mouse. Let's see how.

  • angle-right
Right-click on the empty area of Taskbar.
  • angle-right
Uncheck "Lock the taskbar" option. It unlocks the Taskbar and provides us the ability to change its position.

Now, drag the Taskbar and place it in your desired position (top, left or right). In this instance, my desired position is "Right."

That is all. You can see the Taskbar on the right side of the screen.

Here is an important thing to note:

If you are changing Taskbar with Cortana Search Box from its default position to another position, then you can see that the Cortana Search Box is replaced by Cortana icon.

If you bring back Taskbar to its default position, then the Cortana icon will be replaced with Cortana Search Box.
