How to Change Primary Button of Your Mouse in Windows 10

By default, the left button is the primary button of your mouse in Windows 10.

If you wish, you can change primary button of your mouse at any time you want and here is how:

  • angle-right
Open Run Command Box. Type "main.cpl" (without double quotes) and then press "Enter" key.
  • angle-right
Now, in the "Mouse Properties" popup, you can see "Switch primary and secondary buttons" option. Select it. Keep in mind that the changes are immediate and now your primary button is right button.
  • angle-right
    Hit "OK."
Selected Switch primary and secondary buttons option

If you want to go back to default, then unselect "Switch primary and secondary buttons" option (remember that the changes are immediate) and then hit "OK."

If you wish, you can do the above task with the following steps:

  • angle-double-right
Open Settings app. Click Devices > Mouse.
  • angle-double-right
Now, you can see a drop-down list under "Select your primary button." Open it and select "Right."
Right is chosen from drop-down list

That is all. The right button is the primary button now.

If you want to revert to default, open the above discussed drop-down list and select "Left."
