How to Change Default Font in Google Docs

​In Google Docs, the default font is "Arial." If you want to change the default font, then here are the steps:

    ​Sign into Google Docs on your PC. Open a new document.
  • angle-right
    ​Now, open the "Font" drop-down list at the top and then select the font you prefer.

    ​Click on "Format" at the top. Hover your mouse over "Paragraph styles" and then "Normal Text." Click on "Update 'Normal text' to match" option.

    ​Again, click on "Format" at the top. Hover your mouse over "Paragraph styles" and then "Options." Click on "Save as my default styles" option.

​That's it. The default font is changed successfully.

Notes:

If you wish to return to the default font "Arial," then here are the steps:

  • angle-double-right
    ​Open a new document. Click on "Format" at the top. Hover your mouse over "Paragraph styles" and then "Options." Click on "Reset styles" option.

    ​Now again, click on "Format" and then hover your mouse over "Paragraph styles" and then "Options." Click on "Save as my default styles" option.

That's it. All done.

The above steps are for the "Normal Text." If you want to change the default font for other paragraph styles such as "Title," then follow the below steps (Keep in mind that you can use the following steps to change the default font for Subtitle, and Heading too.):

    ​Open a new document.
  • angle-right
    ​From the "Styles" drop-down list at the top, choose "Title."
  • angle-right
    ​Hit the "Font" drop-down list at the top and then choose the font you prefer.
  • angle-right
    ​Now, hit "Format." Hover mouse over "Paragraph styles" and "Title." Click on "Update 'Title' to match."
  • angle-right
    ​Hit "Format" at the top again and then hover your mouse "Paragraph styles" and "Options." Click "Save as my default styles" option.

That's it. The default font for the "Title" is changed successfully.

If you want to revert default, then here are the steps:

  • angle-double-right
    ​Open a new document. Choose "Title" from the "Styles" drop-down list.
  • angle-double-right
    ​Click on "Format." Hover your mouse over "Paragraph styles" and "Options." Now, hit "Reset styles" option.
  • angle-double-right
    ​Click on "Format." Hover your mouse over "Paragraph styles" and "Options." Now, click on "Save my default styles" option.
