How to Change Default Font in Google Docs

If you want to change the default font for “Normal Text,” then here are the steps:

Steps

  1. Sign into Google Docs on your PC. Open a new document.

  2. Now, open the “Font” drop-down list at the top and then select the font you prefer.

  3. Click on “Format” at the top. Hover your mouse over “Paragraph styles” and then “Normal Text.” Click on “Update ‘Normal text’ to match” option. Update Normal text to match option

  4. Again, click on “Format” at the top. Hover your mouse over “Paragraph styles” and then “Options.” Click on “Save as my default styles” option. Save as my default styles option

​That’s it. The default font for the “Normal Text” is changed successfully.

The above steps are for the “Normal Text.” If you want to change the default font for “Title,” then follow the below steps (Keep in mind that you can use the following steps to change the default font for Subtitle, and Heading too):

​Open a new document.

​From the “Styles” drop-down list at the top, choose “Title.”

​Hit the “Font” drop-down list at the top and then choose the font you prefer.

​Now, hit “Format.” Hover mouse over “Paragraph styles” and “Title.” Click on “Update ‘Title’ to match.”

​Hit “Format” at the top again and then hover your mouse “Paragraph styles” and “Options.” Click “Save as my default styles” option.

That’s it. The default font for the “Title” is changed successfully.

If you want to revert for “Normal Text,” then follow the below steps:

​Open a new document. Click on “Format” at the top. Hover your mouse over “Paragraph styles” and then “Options.” Click on “Reset styles” option.

​Now again, click on “Format” and then hover your mouse over “Paragraph styles” and then “Options.” Click on “Save as my default styles” option.

That’s it. All done.

If you want to revert for Title, then follow the below steps (Keep in mind that you can use the following steps to revert for Subtitle and Heading too):

Open a new document. Choose “Title” from the “Styles” drop-down list.

Click on “Format.” Hover your mouse over “Paragraph styles” and “Options.” Now, hit “Reset styles” option.

Click on “Format.” Hover your mouse over “Paragraph styles” and “Options.” Now, click on the “Save my default styles” option.
