In this post, we'll see how to backup and restore call log on Android. Also, we'll look at the steps to delete call log on Android.

Note that I'm using an Android device running Oreo for this post. Let's get started.

Backup Call Log on Android

You can backup call log on Android using inbuilt "Backup" feature (which you can find in Settings app > Google; We'll see this feature in detail in another post) or third-party app (In our instance, it is "SMS Backup & Restore" app).

Let's see how to do this task using a third-party app.

  • angle-double-right
Install and open SMS Backup & Restore app. I suggest you to go through the app’s documentation in the Play Store.
  • angle-double-right
After you've provided the permissions for the app, you should be on the main screen.
  • angle-double-right
Tap “Set Up A Backup” button.
  • angle-double-right
By default, "Messagesand "Phone calls" are selected for backup. In this instance, I want to the backup call log only. So I leave the "Phone calls" intact and unselect "Messages."

  • angle-double-right
    Tap "Next."
  • angle-double-right
Now, you need to select the location for your backup. Choose the one as per your wish. I suggest you go with cloud options. In this instance, I choose “Google Drive.”
  • angle-double-right
Tap "Log In" option, select type of access and then choose your Google account. Provide permission, and you'll be on this screen:
