How to Take a Backup of Facebook Account

You can take a backup of your Facebook account at any time you want and here is how you can do that:

    Go to Facebook.

    Click "Inverted Triangle" at the top.

    Click "Settings."
  • angle-double-right
    Now, click on "Download a copy" link.

    Click on "Start My Archive" button.

    Enter your password in the popup, and then click "Submit" button.

    In the "Request My Download" popup, click on "Start My Archive" button.

That is all. Facebook will send an email to the email address registered with your Facebook account when your backup is ready to download.

It may take some time (few minutes or hours) for Facebook to prepare the backup depends on your Facebook account data, few minutes in my case.

    Once you received the email, open it and click the link in it.

    Log into your Facebook account if not already.
  • angle-double-right
    Now, click on "Download Archive" button.

    Provide your password and click "Submit."

    That is all. Your Facebook backup will begin to download. It is a Zip file.

    Once downloaded, unzip it and click the "index.html" file.

Your backup will contain timeline, photos, videos, messages, events, pages, friends, and much more information.

Note:

  • Your backup may contain sensitive information. So, keep your backup in a safe place.
  • There is no option to take a backup on the mobile version of Facebook and Facebook for Android.
