How to Archive Text Messages on Android

Typically, the default Messaging app on your Android device does not have the "Archive" option.

However, with the help of "Android Messages" app, you can get this feature. You can install it on devices running Android 4.4 and above.

Also, it is worth to note that this app is the default messaging app on some device such as Moto G5 Plus.

Let's see how to archive text messages.

Archive Text Messages on Android

    Install and open "Android Messages" app.

    Go through the introduction and tap "Yes" in the popup to make this app as SMS app.

    Now, you can see all your text messages within "Android Messages" app.

    Long press the message(s) that you want to archive.
  • angle-right
    Tap "Archive" icon at the top.

That is all. The selected text message(s) will be moved to the "Archived" section.

Keep in mind that the archived text message will get unarchived automatically when it receives a message.

View Archived Text Messages

    Tap Overflow Menu (three vertical dots) at the top.

    Tap "Archived."

Unarchive Archived Text Messages

    Long press archived text message(s) that you want to unarchive.
  • angle-right
    Tap "Unarchive" icon at the top.
