How to Archive Text Messages on Android Phone

Let’s see the steps to do this task. Here, I’m using Google Pixel 4a (Android 12).

How to Archive Text Messages

Here are the steps:

Open the Messages app.

Select the conversation(s) you want to archive.

Hit the “Archive” icon next to the “Trash can” icon at the top right.

That’s it.

It’s important to note that the archived conversation automatically unarchives when it receives a message or you send a message from it.

Here’s an alternate method to archive SMS: slide it to the right or left, and it’ll be archived.

How to View Archived Conversations

Open the Messages app.

Tap the three vertical dots at the top right.

Tap “Archived.” You can find this one between “Starred” and “Spam & blocked.”

You can now view the conversations you have archived.

How to Unarchive Archived Conversations

Go to “Archived” (The steps are above).

Select the archived conversation(s) and tap “Unarchive” at the top.

That’s it.
