Let’s start.

Rename Fire TV Stick

Log in to your Amazon account.

Move the mouse over “Account & Lists” at the top.

Click on the “Manage Your Content and Devices” link.

Navigate to the Devices tab.

Hit “Fire TV.”

Hit your Fire TV Stick name.

You will now see the “Edit” link. Click on it.

Enter the name you want and then click the “Save” button.

Delete Fire TV Stick voice recordings

Amazon stores all your Fire TV Stick voice search on its servers. Let’s take a look at the steps to delete voice recordings of the Fire TV Stick.

Log in to your Amazon account.

Move the mouse over “Account & Lists” at the top.

Click on the “Manage Your Content and Devices” link.

Navigate to the Devices tab.

Hit “Fire TV.”

Hit your Fire TV Stick name.

Click the “Delete voice recordings” button.

Click the “Delete” button in the confirmation popup.

Note: There is no option to cease storing voice recordings on Amazon servers or automatically delete recordings. In short, all your future voice searches will be saved, and you will need to delete them manually.

Sleep, reboot or reset Amazon Fire TV Stick

Go to the Settings and press “My Fire TV.”

For sleep

Select the “Sleep” option if you prefer to put the Fire TV Stick to sleep.

Remember that each button can wake up your Fire TV Stick.

An alternate sleep method: Press and hold the “Menu” and “Home” buttons together and hold them down for two seconds. Now you will see the “Sleep” option. Select it. Remember that you can wake up with any button.

For a reboot

Select the “Restart” option if you prefer a reboot.

On the confirmation screen, select the “Restart” button.

An alternative method to restart is to press and hold the “Select” and “Play” buttons together for six seconds.

For reset

Select the “Reset to Factory Defaults” option if you prefer to reset.

Select the “Reset” button on the confirmation screen. Remember that this will remove all personal data and downloaded content from your Fire TV Stick.

Uninstall the app on the Fire TV Stick

Go to “Settings.”

Click on “Applications.”

Click on “Manage Installed Applications.”

Click on the app you want to uninstall.

Now click on the “Uninstall” option.

On the confirmation screen, click the Uninstall button.

Note: Remember that you can only uninstall the app you have installed.

Turn off the screensaver on the Fire TV Stick

On your Amazon Fire TV Stick, the screensaver is turned on by default.

If you are not a fan, you can turn it off. Let’s look at the steps.

Go to “Settings.”

Click Display & Sounds > Screensaver.

Press “Start Time.”

Hit “Never.”

Turn off navigation sounds on the Fire TV Stick

Navigation sounds, the ones you hear when you navigate or select, is enabled by default on your Amazon Fire TV Stick.

If you don’t like it, then you can turn it off and here’s how:

Go to “Settings.”

Hit Display & Sounds > Audio.

Hit “Navigation Sounds.”

That’s it, now it’s off.

Note: If you want to turn it on, follow the steps above.

Opt-out of interest-based ads

By default, interest-based ads are turned on in the Amazon Fire TV Stick. You can unsubscribe if you want to. Let’s see how.

Go to “Settings.”

Click on “Preferences.”

Click on “Privacy Settings.”

Hit “Interest-based Ads.”

Note: If you want to reverse, follow the steps above.

Reset advertising ID

If you want, you can reset your ad ID on your Amazon Fire TV Stick. Let us see how to do it.

Go to “Settings.”

Click on “Preferences.”

Click on “Privacy Settings.”

Select Your Advertising ID.

Click the Menu button on your remote control.

Press the “OK” button on the confirmation screen.

Developer options

Hit Settings.

Click My Fire TV > Developer options.

This has two options and they are:

  • ADB debugging – press it to enable or disable it.
  • Apps from Unknown Sources – press it to enable or disable it. If you enable, you will see a confirmation screen where you need to press “Turn On.”
