How to Add Desktop Icons on Windows 10

In Windows 10, you can see “Recycle Bin” icon, one of the Desktop Icons, on the Desktop by default.

If you want to add other Desktop Icons (Computer, User’s Files, Network, and Control Panel), then you can do it at any time you want.

In this post, we will see the steps to do this task. Let’s get started.

Add Desktop Icons on Windows 10

Open Run Command. Type “ms-settings:themes” (without double quotes) and then press “Enter.”

Command to open Themes

You should be in the “Themes” section now.

Find and click “Desktop icon settings” link under “Related Settings.” You can see the “Desktop Icon Settings” popup.

In that popup, you can notice that the “Recycle Bin” is selected (since it is already available on Desktop, it is selected) and others are not selected.

Now, select the icon(s) that you want to add to Desktop.

All Desktop Icons are selected

Hit “OK” button.

That is all. Take a look at your Desktop, and you can see the icons that you chose on the Desktop.

Remove Desktop Icons on Windows 10

Go to the “Desktop Icon Settings” popup using above steps.

Now, unselect the icon(s) that you prefer.

Canceled the selection of Control Panel

Click “OK” button.
