In this post, we’ll see how to know if your Windows 10 laptop has Bluetooth and WiFi or not and how to add both of them if not. Let’s get started.
Know If Your Windows 10 Laptop has Bluetooth or Not
You can see “Device Manager” now. By default, all the categories are alphabetically listed here.
Look for the “Bluetooth” category. If you didn’t find any, then open “Network adapters” category and look for “Bluetooth” entry there.
If you can’t see Bluetooth in any of those places, then it means that your laptop doesn’t have Bluetooth. Don’t worry; you can add Bluetooth easily, and in the following section you can see how.
If you see “Bluetooth” in any of the places mentioned above, then your laptop has Bluetooth.
Add Bluetooth to Windows 10 Laptop
First, grab a Bluetooth Adapter that you want.
Now, connect it to the USB port of the laptop.
The Windows 10 will automatically install drivers for the adapter. In case, if it did not, then install the software from the CD that comes with the adapter.
That’s all. Now, your laptop has Bluetooth.
Go to the Notification Area of Windows 10, and you can see a “Bluetooth” icon there.
Right-click on it and select “Add a Bluetooth Device” to pair it with other Bluetooth devices.
Know If Your Windows 10 Laptop has WiFi or Not
Open Run Command (press Windows key + R). Type “devmgmt.msc” (without double quotes) and then press “Enter” key. It’ll open up “Device Manager.”
Find and expand the “Network adapters” category.
In the entries within the “Network adapters” category, look for these words – “Wireless,” “WiFi.”
If you see any one of those two words, then your laptop has WiFi.
If you can’t see any of those words, then your laptop doesn’t have WiFi.
If your laptop doesn’t have WiFi, don’t worry; You can add WiFi easily, and in the following section you can see how.
Add WiFi to Windows 10 Laptop
First, grab a “USB WiFi Adapter” that you want.
After you grab one, attach it to the USB port of your laptop.
The Windows 10 will install drivers for the adapter. In case, if it did not, then install the software in the CD that comes with the adapter.
That’s it. Now, your laptop has WiFi.
Click the “Network” icon in the Notification Area of your Windows 10 laptop. Find your WiFi network and connect to it.
Note: From now on, not only you can connect to your WiFi network, but you can also create a WiFi hotspot to share your laptop’s internet connection with other devices.
